«Anyone know where Lyla is now?»
Less than two percent of the world's population has naturally red hair. Because they stand out, they're often bullied by their peers, ridiculed in pop culture, and perceived through negative stereotypes dating all the way back to medieval times. Brian Dowling is hoping to bring some positive attention to those with fiery red locks for a change. He's traveled to 20 countries and counting to photograph redheads around the world and celebrate their natural beauty through whimsical portraits. Insider logo The word "Insider".

Making friends at Redhead Days was one of our favourite things about the weekend-long fest of ginger escapades. We met some incredible individuals, and amongst our new collection of ginger mates is Anthea Pokroy, a flame-haired artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa, who does something quite brilliant: she actually collects gingers. Running adjacent to the I collect gingers exhibition is the option to contribute to an Indiegogo campaign to immortalise these beautiful creatures in a photography book, with pledges available to purchase your own copy, containing images of all gingers that Anthea has collected during her mission. You need to hurry though, as this the Indiegog o campaign ends on Saturday 1st December ! So you see, the I collect gingers book would be perfect as a Christmas gift for any redhead lover, art lover, or redheaded art lover. All of the portraits can be found at: www. She dresses herself in mismatched multi-seasonal clothing and has a talent for sniffing out the next opportunity for coffee.

A photographer is out to change the way redheads are seen by capturing those with flame-coloured locks in all their glory. Bianca Duimel , from New Zealand , isn't red-haired herself, and neither is her daughter, but she has seen first-hand the effects of bullying on those who are. Speaking to FEMAIL, Ms Duimel shared how she had 'discovered' a young model in her daughter's gymnastics class and been struck by the 'incredible' colour of her hair. But shockingly she learned from the girl's mother the girl had been picked on at school and had been bullied by others for the way she looked. Bianca Duimel's art project Red Matters aims to capture the beauty and bravery of redheads.
